Nepal Disaster Update and How to help
Project & Community Updates
Project Sites: The schools from our last project and our current project are not in the flood's path. We are still awaiting updates on families near the Trisuli River school (from our 2019 trip – remember the swing bridge).
Student Impact: Dawa Wangmo Tamang, an MSU Nepali nursing student currently in Billings, tragically lost her uncle and cousins in the disaster.
Rotary Partner: Our partner club, RC Tripureswor, is still developing a relief plan. Some of their Rotaractors are already collecting clothing to distribute via the army. I will share their formalized relief plan as soon as it is released.
3 Ways You Can Support Relief Efforts
1. Direct Support for Dawa’s Family: You can donate directly to Dawa via Venmo to support her family during this tragedy. Contact Mary at mhub@alum.mit.edu for details.
2. Tax-Deductible Local Donation (Building Bureau): Send funds through our local Bozeman non-profit, Building Bureau, which is routing money directly to their trusted on-the-ground partner, Sower’s Action Nepal. (See attached PDF for links).
3. ShelterBox USA: Donate to Rotary’s official project partner, ShelterBox, which is actively providing emergency shelter in Nepal: ShelterBox USA Relief Fund

Lighthouse Ranch Community Day of Service
We are hosting a Community Day of Service at Lighthouse Ranch on Saturday September 12th to tear down and rebuild an unsafe patio, alongside general landscaping cleanup. Two other Gallatin County Rotary clubs and local community members are interested in joining us!
About the Partner: Lighthouse Ranch is a local nonprofit facility that will provide post-crisis residential care, therapy, and community-based mental health services for at-risk teenagers and their families in the Gallatin Valley.
