This January 12th at HRDC's new building at 206 East Griffin Drive
Jill Holder, HRDC's Food & Nutrition Director will lead us on a morning tour of HRDC's new Market Place Building. Market Place will feature HRDC’s Food and Nutrition opportunities designed to ensure no one in our community goes to bed hungry. This building includes a warehouse for emergency food storage, a commercial kitchen, a grocery area, a pay-what-you-can restaurant, and space for enrichment and educational opportunities. HRDC's customers will be greeted by HRDC staff members to begin a dialogue about how HRDC can best support their individual needs. Customers will learn about and have access to the full scope of services available to help mitigate tight budgets and to avoid or eliminate crises.

-Japan Friendship Exchange-
This May, 14 Rotarians and friends of Rotary will be traveling to Japan on a Friendship Exchange with our sister club in Katsuyama. At our last meeting Abby Turner informed us that all members of the club were safe from the recent earthquake and appreciate our club reaching out to them. Additionally, we passed around a card wishing members of the Katsuyama club a happy New Year. What is something our two clubs have in common? Dinosaurs! Check out the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum. See any similarities with our hometown Museum of the Rockies? That's because Fukui is a sister-museum of MOR! Check out this article from the Chronicle detailing the connection. More to come in the lead up to this exciting trip!

Rotary International chartered its first club outside the United States in 1911, in Dublin, Ireland. This expansion was a significant milestone, marking the beginning of Rotary's growth as a truly international organization. The choice of Dublin, Ireland, as the location for Rotary International's first club outside the United States was not due to a specific strategic decision by Rotary's leadership, but rather a result of individual initiative and the organic spread of the Rotary concept. The founding of the Dublin Rotary Club was largely influenced by the efforts of local businessmen who were inspired by the Rotary model after learning about it from Rotarians while visiting the U.S. for business.
What year was the first Rotary club formed in a non-English speaking country, and where?
Answer: _____ (find out next week + a lil related tidbit)
